Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) supports the Digital Concert Hall, a video distribution service of the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra which is operated by Berlin Phil Media GmbH.
The Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra started the first Digital Concert Hall high definition distribution service in 2009 for classical music and other performances with a view to delivering performances of the orchestra to audiences around the world. The portal provides (for a fee) nearly 50 regular performances per year both live and on-demand.
IIJ has signed a sponsorship agreement to become a streaming partner with Berlin Phil Media to create the distribution service of the future, which combines high resolution images with high-quality audio. At the same time, IIJ will take on the challenge of developing new technologies.
We are always working to make it easier for audiences around the world to enjoy high-quality performances of the Berliner Philharmoniker through the Digital Concert Hall. Progress is always being made in both video and audio technology. It is our mission to continue to provide viewers with performances that reflect the highest standards. We believe that it is important to maintain high-quality video and audio distribution and to pursue further innovations in these technologies. Internet Initiative Japan has already been highly successful in this area, and we believe they are the ideal partner for our future development.
