New option compatible with FLET'S Hikari Next's Internet (IPv6 IPoE) connections
April 21, 2016
TOKYO-April 21, 2016-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it will begin offering its IIJmio Hikari IPoE Option for its IIJmio Hikari broadband service for individual customers, compatible with FLET'S Hikari Next's Internet (IPv6 IPoE) Connection.
IIJmio Hikari is a broadband service provided through the Hikari collaboration model-in which NTT East and NTT West are offering a wholesale fiber-optic connection service-that gives customers FLET'S Hikari and an Internet connection as a set under a single contract.
The IIJmio Hikari IPoE Option provides an IPv6 connection that is compatible with NTT East and NTT West's Internet (IPv6 IPoE) Connection. The IPoE connection does not require PPP account configuration, making it easier to connect to the IPv6 Internet. Because it is also possible to use an IPv4 connection via the conventional PPPoE connection method provided by IIJmio Hikari, customers can use both IPv6 and IPv4 connection environments using this one service.
In addition, by using a router compatible with Dual-Stack Lite (DS-Lite) tunneling technology that allows IPv4 connectivity over IPv6 network, customers can also use IPv4 connections via IPoE, making congestion less likely than with conventional networks for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
As part of a special offer, IIJ is offering the first two months for free to customers signing up for this option.
