Advantech Collaboration with IIJ in Industrial IoT Field
IoT platform such as remote monitoring of industrial machines and visualization of operation status will be launched in Japan to improve operational efficiency

Tokyo, August 21, 2019 - Advantech (stock code: 2395) and Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. President: Eijiro Katsu. Herein referred to as "IIJ") are collaborating on the business development in Japan of the IoT platform for industrial fields that Advantech provides globally.
Under this collaboration, the two companies will launch jointly the business of WISE-PaaS in Japan, developing a new service "WISE-PaaS JP (tentative name)" integrating IIJ's secure network and cloud services. The new service will be available in January 2020, providing by Advantech.
Boasting the world's top share in the market of industrial computer, Advantech has been globally developing the platform WISE-PaaS specializing in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) since 2016. WISE-PaaS is a platform which collects various real time data from industrial computers and devices of Advantech installed in manufacturing equipment such as machining tools and production lines. And by visualizing the status of the equipment and lines, this platform enables operating rate tracking, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance, etc. We provide the system infrastructure necessary for construction of IoT that improves operational efficiency, to customers in various industries, especially the manufacturing industry such as logistics, traffic, transportation and energy.
IIJ, on the other hand, which has accumulated abundant application experiences, make the most of its unique characteristics of the Full MVNO in closed mobile networks and closed connections to customer's private cloud environments, providing a high-security network and cloud services for IoT. Aiming to expand IIot business in the Japanese market, Advantech and IIJ complement each other's strengths in technology and services to provide one-stop solution from applications to hardware, cloud, network and security as an integrated WISE-PaaS JP service.

Systems required for IIoT fully covered
We provide comprehensively a lineup of integrated service packages, including basic systems from devices and edge servers that collects data, to network and cloud, in addition to applications necessary for specific tasks such as production management, equipment monitoring and energy management systems, etc. Therefore, customers can easily install an IIoT system simply by selecting the necessary components.
Establishment of highly secure system
Since the data collection uses a mobile service with a closed network connection, data transfer and remote control are possible in a closed network environment, allowing customers to build secure systems that isolate factories and equipment from external threats.

In addition, Advantech and IIJ have partnered with SI companies specializing in various industries such as logistics, traffic, transportation and energy, to continuously promote the development and expansion of "domain-specific solutions" utilizing the scheme provided by WISE-PaaS JP.
Our partners will introduce and deploy WISE-PaaS JP with cooperation of Nippon RAD Inc., the prime solution integrator of WISE-PaaS that has a business capital relationship with Advantech.
The advanced technologies and abundant knowledge and know-how of both companies will be utilized hereafter to develop WISE-PaaS JP, promoting the practical application of IIoT in Japan, and support customer's business model reformation.
