TOKYO-February 4, 2020-JOCDN Inc. (JOCDN) today announced that the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) has subscribed to a private placement of new shares in JOCDN stock. NHK became JOCDN's 18th shareholder, and the firm's capital and capital reserves increased to JPY844.9 million.
JOCDN was founded on December 1, 2016, as a video content distribution platform provider aimed at the Japanese market, and it provides high-quality, cost-effective CDN services to broadcasters and video distributors. JOCDN has been growing its service track record with TVer, a TV program streaming service operated by Presentcast Inc., and other private video streaming services, while also working on developing and offering solutions for the simultaneous online streaming of TV programs, a service which has been garnering attention in recent years.
With this share allocation, JOCDN aims to further improve the quality of its services by leveraging NHK's technical expertise, as well as the extensive streaming experience of Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) and other private broadcasting companies. JOCDN will continue to further advance the development of technology that sustains Japan's broadcasting and communications infrastructure.
