Compatibility with IIJ's Service Adapter as well as other manufacturers' routers, UTMs, and other networking devices
January 26, 2021
TOKYO-January 26, 2021-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced the launch of the IIJ Multi-Product Controller Service. This network management service offers centralized remote control and management of the networking devices and virtual appliances operating on customers' wide-area networks (WANs).
The service is a newly developed platform that provides compatibility for various appliances through an updated SACM(*) service platform that offers OEM mechanisms for automatically connecting and centrally managing devices. Because all device settings, monitoring, and administration are centrally managed from the cloud, customers no longer need to dispatch engineers to set up networking devices, confirm connections, or perform maintenance or replacements, thereby streamlining network installations and reducing labor costs. IIJ also plans to gradually introduce compatibility with other networking devices, including UTMs and wireless LAN devices.
Previously, IIJ had offered the IIJ SMF sx Service for the centralized management of local routing devices, whose service is compatible with IIJ's proprietary SEIL (pronounced "zail") series of enterprise routers. In addition to SEIL series, this new service is compatible with the SA series, which IIJ offers as SACM-dedicated service adapters. With its compatibility with routers, UTMs, and wireless LAN devices from other manufacturers, this service allows customers to centrally manage the various networking devices in their environments. It also offers an improved dedicated management screen and an intuitive interface for controlling many devices.
IIJ's service adapters, SEIL series and SA series, are enterprise-grade routers for building corporate networks. They work for a variety of applications, including VPNs and remote access. Just turning on a network-connected service adapter allows it to acquire the necessary configuration data. Modifying and managing these settings is possible through the cloud-based central management system.
The dedicated management screen allows system administrators to review, in real time, the status and logs of all aspects of the network, including traffic and service adapter usage data (CPU and memory usage). It also allows for setting of various commands execution and version upgrades at once. Accurately managing large quantities of networking devices reduces the workload associated with installing or replacing appliances.
In response to customer needs for efficiently operating and centrally managing networking devices from different vendors across multiple locations, IIJ developed a new platform with multivendor support. This platform will gain compatibility with IoT gateways, remote access points, UTMs, and other networking devices from leading manufacturers, alongside the edge routers installed in local networks.
