Simultaneously launching IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Trial to allow users to verify performance before going live
January 27, 2021
TOKYO-January 27, 2021-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced the January 29, 2021, launch of IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Assessment, an assessment service to help customers optimize their system sizing for the introduction of the IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Citrix Cloud for Windows Virtual Desktop. This launch will also include IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Trial, a pre-verification service.
IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Citrix Cloud for Windows Virtual Desktop is a fully managed cloud service that combines Microsoft's Windows Virtual Desktop with Citrix Cloud. With teleworking on the rise due to working style reforms and the COVID-19 pandemic, IIJ has received numerous inquiries since its announcement in September 2020 as a safe and low-cost virtual desktop service. However, when considering the introduction of this service, there is a great need for a preliminary assessment of the system configuration and performance required by the company, as well as pre-verification to confirm how their internal applications run on Windows Virtual Desktop. To meet these needs, IIJ will launch assessment and trial features for the service.
IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Assessment utilizes Lakeside Software's monitoring tool "SysTrack Cloud Edition," which collects and visualizes status of devices use to analyze the resources and performance required for migration to virtual desktops. The assessment allows customers to create the appropriate virtual machine configurations and server sizing with more accuracy than through desktop calculations.
The assessment service provides periodic reports using device, system resource, and application usage data gathered from the SysTrack Agent software installed on user devices. The reports also include Windows Virtual Desktop Recommended Specifications based on the expert knowledge of IIJ's engineers. With these specs, customers can install virtual machines with just the right performance and in just the right number, building a high-quality, cost-effective virtual desktop environment.
Moreover, installing the SysTrack Agent on Windows Virtual Desktop virtual machines enables user experience score analytics, which quantitatively evaluate usability even after installation, ensuring that system administrators can review the virtual machine specifications and improve usage conditions.

The IIJ Virtual Desktop Service/Trial allows potential customers to try out a verification environment equivalent to the production environment before full-scale implementing the service.
The trial environment can be connected to customers' environments through closed connections, allowing them to verify the operation and usability of their internal systems and specific applications on the virtual desktop. The trial environment will also include Citrix Cloud and its highly convenient management functions, so that customers can experience firsthand how the management screen works as well as the service's unique operations, including policy control and screen transfer.
After the trial is complete, customers can use it as a production environment (*).
IIJ has provided its Virtual Desktop Service as Asia's largest Citrix Service Provider. In recognition of its achievements and service provision utilizing Citrix Cloud, IIJ was awarded the "APJ CSP Partner of the Year for 2020."
IIJ will continue to support the business efforts of its customers by providing high value-added cloud services.
