Internet Initiative Japan Inc.
TOKYO - April 25, 2022 - Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (TSE Prime: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, installed a total of 211 surveillance cameras at the 65 offices nationwide of TKC Corporation (Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture; below, "TKC"), a developer of information systems for accounting firms and local governments, and helped TKC build a system that enables centralized recording and monitoring of video data on the cloud. TKC began full-scale operation of this system in April 2022. By synchronizing Microsoft Azure Active Directory, which is linked to the TKC's HR system, with Active Directory(*) built on the new system, it is possible to set access rights that reflect the latest HR information, ensuring the security of information management and efficient operation.
TKC has installed surveillance cameras in the reception areas and training rooms of the TKC National Federation, which are operated by each of its offices, as well as in the locations where systems that print a large volume of financial statements-related forms are installed, as ISO27001 (ISMS), an international standard, requires constant monitoring of the locations where forms are printed and managed. Until now, each office had managed its own surveillance cameras, but under the previous system, video data had to be ordered from each office each time it was needed at the head office, making it impossible to immediately assess the situation at each office after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. This led to TKC's decision to collect all surveillance camera data in the cloud and build a system that would allow real-time monitoring and management.
With the introduction of the new system, managers with access rights linked to the latest HR information can now view and store video data from all offices in a centralized manner, and authorized personnel at each office can also view video data via mobile devices over the network. The system is also equipped with a multi-factor authentication function to enhance user authentication security, realizing a system that allows the right people to access the right information.
TKC links its human resource system to Microsoft Azure AD, a cloud-based authentication service that manages user IDs. In this project, Active Directory (AD) was built on the system platform so that the surveillance camera system can also be linked to this service, and by synchronizing with Azure AD, HR information can be reflected in access rights. By linking AD, the time and effort required to set and change access privileges due to transfers are also greatly reduced.
IIJ provides one-stop support for this system construction, including selection and installation of camera equipment, installation of lines, AD linkage, and provision of cloud services. For locations where LAN cables cannot be installed, mobile-compatible surveillance cameras are installed and transmitted to the surveillance camera system (ActivNet) via IIJ's closed network. Using this platform, users can monitor the status of their locations in real time.
IIJ will continue to support its customers' business promotion by leveraging its own IoT services and solutions and comprehensive knowledge of IoT products and technologies.
