TOKYO – November 20, 2024 - Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (TSE Prime 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced a collaboration with SCSK Corporation ("SCSK"), whereby the two companies agree to interconnect the IIJ Shiroi Data Center Campus ("Shiroi DCC") and SCSK Inzai Campus starting December 2024. The interconnection will give customers of the two companies secure and ready access to the network services and rack services of both companies, based on their needs, without having to configure closed networks separately to the data centers.

The IIJ Shiroi DCC is a large-scale data center complex that went into operation in May 2019 in Shiroi City, Chiba Prefecture, to aggregate the digital data that has grown explosively with the growth of 5G/IoT/AI/cloud and other services. Chiba's Inzai district where the Shiroi DCC is located has become known for its concentration of data centers of the world's IT companies. IIJ has been building up its network there, based on a network hub concept linking various cloud services, nearby data centers, and Internet exchange points (IX), and has implemented interconnection with the SCSK Inzai data center as part of this initiative.

Overview of the collaboration

Interconnecting the respective data centers of IIJ and SCSK, the two companies will provide customers with ready access to a closed network, without the need to configure one on their own. Besides being able to connect between racks in each other's data center on this closed network, customers can readily make use of both companies' network security services and cloud services in a safe and secure environment, via the IIJ and SCSK network services IIJ Private Backbone Service and SCSK Cloud netXchange (SCNX).
